The growing importance of cloud in the world of business has enabled companies to adopt this and move from traditional business practices into digital business practices. However, while the adoption of such IT-based solutions is increasing worldwide and particularly across the UK, companies are facing some challenges that are likely to affect their IT strategy.
In an attempt to examine the external factors affecting IT strategy within UK businesses, Serviceteam carried out a study based on four weeks of fieldwork across July and August 2017. They surveyed over a thousand people responsible for IT-decision making from various sectors ranging from marketing and advertising to research and technology. The study provided the scope for explaining the different factors that are likely to impact the performance of IT department. In doing so, the study involved the combination of quantitative and qualitative data collection processes through in depth-interviews and a large sample survey.
Based on an analysis of different sources of data, the study explores the impact of the external challenges that businesses face in 2017 and beyond, such as the uncertainty of Brexit, the introduction of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the rise of cyber-crime.
